Canada and the European Union are deepening their economic partnership under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), a deal that has already eliminated 98% of bilateral tariffs since its provisional implementation in 2017. The phased tariff dismantling strategy has unlocked significant trade flows, particularly in agriculture and manufactured goods.
"When Canada and the European Union build together, our futures are stronger," remarked Mark Carney, underscoring the strategic importance of the transatlantic alliance. The agreement now serves as a blueprint for modern trade frameworks, with both parties exploring additional sectors for cooperation.
